Review: Moy Park Chicken and Lemon Meatballs – 2 Meals!

Today I am posting about a product that I am very passionate about. Not only is the product versatile enough to use in a number of different meal combinations, but is actually low in fat and healthy – packed with a bunch of protein. They are great alternative to your usual red meat meatballs.

Compared to your regular supermarket brand meatballs these are not the cheapest. At the time of writing this article it was £3.50 for a 336g pack, which roughly serves 4. However, you certainly get what you pay for, the difference in quality is night and day. The chicken in the Moy Park meatballs are locally sourced British produce which are succulent and fresh. There’s no filler or rubbish inside. The twist of lemon adds an extra zing and depth of flavour. They are sprinkled with fresh seasoning and combine well with most ingredients and compliment Italian or Mediterranean cuisine very well!

I managed to make two different dishes out of one pack of meatballs; ‘Matt’s Meatball Marinara’ and a red meat alternative to your traditional ‘Spaghetti Bolognese’ – this version packed a punch with a Sugo Arrabbiata source.

My ingredients were pretty simple and both dishes were supported with fresh M&S bread and topped off with parmesan cheese.

Matt’s Meatball Marinara

The ingredients required for this dish were as follows:

  1. Moy Park Chicken Meatballs (roughly around 150g)
  2. M&S Ciabatta Loaf (1/2 of he 250g)
  3. Gefen Classic Marinara Pasta Sauce (3 cups)
  4. 1/2 Pepper
  5. 1/2 Onion
  6. Fry light (any) low calorie spray
  7. M&S Grated Cheddar and Mozzarella (2 handfuls)

Firstly, Start by chopping the onions and peppers into a pan and frying off with fry light until crispy and golden brown. I would also then add the chicken meatballs and cook until thoroughly browned.

Secondly, add the sauce to warm through once satisfied the chicken is thoroughly cooked through.

Then cut half of the ciabatta loaf and add the cooked sauce and meatballs.

Sprinkle cheddar and mozzarella mix (generously) and grill for roughly 5 mins.

Spaghetti Bolognese (with a twist!)

The ingredients required for this dish were as follows:

  1. Moy Park Chicken Meatballs (roughly around 150g)
  2. M&S Garlic & Parsley Ciabatta Sticks (1 or two)
  3. Garafalo spaghetti (1 portion)
  4. De Cecco Alla Arrabiata sauce (3 cups)
  5. 1/2 Pepper
  6. 1/2 Onion
  7. Fry light (any) low calorie spray
  8. Mixed herbs (any)
  9. M&S Parmigiano Reggiano (2 handfuls)

Firstly, Start by chopping the onions and peppers into a pan and frying off with fry light until crispy and golden brown. I would also then add the chicken meatballs and cook until thoroughly browned.

Place a portion of spaghetti into boiling water and cook until soft

Add the arrabiata sauce to warm through once satisfied the chicken is thoroughly cooked through.

Then place the garlic and coriander sticks under the grill.

Serve with a generous portion of parmigiano reggiano (parmesan cheese).

I hope this gives you inspiration to try the meatballs yourself. They really are the star of the show!
